A SCHOLARSHIP FOR STUDENTS WHO ARE GOING TO PURSUE CREATIVE CAREERS

We are happy to announce a scholarship contest for college and university students who intend to work in the design sphere. If you are as excited about creativity as we are, you have a chance to receive a $1000 grant from our team for your further studying. Interested? Let’s go through details.

Who are we?

We are a team of enthusiasts who want to support your creative ideas and give you a voice! We have been researching the design industry for years, have talked to many professionals, and now our goal is to provide you with an opportunity to become one of them. That is why we decided to make a contest for creative students to help them out with their studies.

What is the contest about?

The main task is to write an original article related to the topic of design and creativity. An article must be written proficiently and contain unique graphic content created by you (e.g. artworks, photos, infographics, charts, etc.). Original and fresh stylistic decisions are more than welcome!

Who can apply?

College and university students whose main passion is creativity and design and who aspire to continue their education in that sphere.

Academic requirements for the applicants:

Applicants must have a certain level of academic success. To participate, your scores must correspond to one of the following:

Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT)

Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) result: 1000 points and higher. Test sections: English, Math, Reading, Writing;

If you are not a US student

Initial part

To participate in the contest, you have to fill in the form below with your personal information and attach a motivation letter that would explain why you are the one to receive the grant. You should be specific but brief – the word count for motivation letter is 200-250 words. Also, you have to enclose a writing pitch of your article.

What is a writing pitch?

Pitch is a brief summary of what your article is about. It has to include:

  • A catchy title that would grab our editors’ attention. Be creative!
  • A couple of rather short paragraphs altogether up to 200 words describing your article and presenting your position regarding the issue you are writing about.

You can find more information about pitches and how to write them here.

Also, since your pitch concerns design sphere and original graphical content is a must, you have to show us an example of what exactly you want to create. If it’s a stylistic arrangement of your article – apply it to your pitch. If it’s your own artworks or photos – provide us with examples of what you’re going to use. If it’s a chart or infographics – show us what you’ve got. Opportunities are limitless, so we are waiting for something special from you!

Requirements for your motivation letter and pitch:

  1. Language: English
  2. Extension: .doc or .docx
  3. Format: Times New Roman or Arial, 12-point font, double-spaced, 1-inch margins (2.54 cm).

If the stylistic arrangement of your pitch demands a change of format, you are free to do it as soon as you stick to other requirements.

We will review your application within 5 business days and will reply with our decision about your submission.

When you are done with the initial part, we can jump right to the main task.

Ongoing part

After you received our reply and we confirmed you were listed as a participant of our scholarship contest, we will await submission of your full article. The article requirements are the following:

  • Language: English.
  • Extension: .doc or .docx
  • Format: Times New Roman or Arial, 12-point font, double-spaced, 1-inch margins (2.54 cm). If you have references, they should be formatted according to MLAstandard.
  • Word count: 1000+

Again, you can change the format if your stylistic arrangement or graphic content demands it. The more creative you are, the better! However, if you do so, we will also need a text version of your article to check it for plagiarism and grammar.

You can find an example of the article in one of our blog entries.

To submit the article, you have to respond to our confirmation letter and attach your work to your response. The deadline for article submissions is 1st November 2020, 12 am UTC. All articles submitted after the deadline expires will not be reviewed.

Who is going to check your article and how will the contest proceed?

We will check submissions in 4 stages:

  • Your article will be thoroughly examined for plagiarism with several plagiarism checkers. If its average percentage is higher than 5%, your submission will be disqualified. If you want to quote someone or provide some stats – use references, don’t be lazy!
  • Our experienced philologists with master’s degrees will check grammar and spelling.
  • Professional designers will evaluate your creativity and the quality of the graphic part.
  • A content supervisor will go through the whole article to examine its overall quality.

Finally, our whole team will meet and discuss every submission. The best author will be granted $1000 scholarship for their studying, and the article will be published in our blog! As for all other articles, we keep the right to publish them with all the credits mentioned without additional agreement from the author.

We will be ready to announce the winner of the contest on 1st January 2021. We will email every participant and post the results of the contest on our website’s scholarship page.
